Food Inc

Corporations and the Government, collaborate together when it comes to illegal immigration. Robert Kenner, displays this well in his movie Food Inc. In here we see the immigrant workers being picked up from thier houses by the police, and are being jailed. The police even took the children if the parents were not there. The corporations are allowed to keep immigrants as long as they give up 15, names a day to the police. Even though when he said this, he was referring to the cows and pigs, his statement also reflects on this situation well. An organic farmer Joel Salatin says; We've become successful at hitting the wrong bullzide, at the wrong target." This could mean that we Americans as a country are going after the wrong people and are not asking the right questions, instead asking all the wrong ones and turning a blind eye to the wrong, since it is easier to do. We have become well accustomed with doing wrong. The Government, need break its bond with the corporations and shut them down. Its time for the Government to take its control back.

A bug that kills children (Fast Food Nation)

Ecoli is a deadly bacterial disease, that can develops into Hemolytic uremic syndrome, (HUS).  This can lead to severe health problems such as kidney failure, anemia, or internal bleeding, staatistically 5% of children are killed by this disease and survivors are left with highly sever disabilities such as blindness or brain damage.

Whats in the Meat (eric Schlossers' Fast Food Nation)

At the age of six,  Lauren Beth Rouldolph died, after eating a Jack In The Box Hamburger. This was one of the many death cases, that was reported in Eric Schlosser "Fast Food Nation", due to e coli.

Feedlots

Feedlots are plot of ground that is often located near a stockyard. This is where livestock are gathered to be fattened up for market.  The grain given to these animals is aided by anabolic steroids that is implanted into the animals ears. (150, schlossers' Fast Food Nation). This is the start of prodction. Production starts on the farm with the farmers or the growers. The people who take these positions are placed under high and strict rules, on how to raise thier animals inorder for them to be able to sell them to the companies. What modifying what these animals eat the food that we know as a hamburger is later modified as well. Once a chemical is taken out of its form it cannot go back to its original form. This is known as food engineering, (111).

Feedlot production is about control and demand. A farmer named Monfort, who later became the Ken Monfort, the owner of many slaughter houses. He would control his sales and timing of livestock by feeding the cattle year round a new type of food. The grain, instead of grass. The corporations control how the food is raised and they put it on the market. If animals are not fat enough, and has not been given the anabolic steroids thenthey are not worthy of profit.

Feedlots make the selling possible. The farmers can grow they animals the way the corporations want them to.

Brand Essence

Brand essence is the emotional connection between a person and a brand or product. In schlossers book Fast Food Nation, he talks about the Brand Essence in chapter two page 49. In an successful attempt to get thier sales back up and thier customers loving them again McDonalds scrambled to find a way to get the heart of thier customers. They did so by linking with other brands. They joined forces with these brands so that they still had support. The ads would link one thing to another and so would the people. These ads would show success and throw a McDonalds Cheeseburger in it. The people watching these ads would see that and think well McDonalds is great and this would change thier attitude about Mcdonalds and make hem wan to buy there. This is an emotional connection between consumers and the business. In order to get higher business the consumers must love you and think very good about you. So needless to say McDonalds sales went back up and thier customers were happy. Then everybody was happy and they were booming again. McDonalds Was back at the number one spot where they feel they should be. That my friends is Brand Essence.

The Shock Doctrine

In the beggining of this video the words PSYCHIATRY, pop on to the screen. That pulled at my curiosity.
I was wonderong what does psychiatry have to do with shock? The video goes on to show that the c.i.a uses shock therapy on people to see what would happen. They began to promote shock therapy as a medicine that would help psychiatric patients to get better. The video compared that to natural disasters of the world and the shocks that come with it. It explains that we act as children when we are in shock but that, thats why we need a leader. That was pretty interesting to me because it was proven that shick therapy was not efficient in helping psychiatric patients. The government just found a legal way to shock people. If we are reduced to childlike behavior when experiencing shock weather it be from shock therapy, or a natural disaster in the world how can a leader lead us. Just because the leader is a leader that does not set him apart from the rest of the people. He would be child like just as we are. So how can a leader lead if reduced to childlike behavior? Is there decisions made out of wisdom or panic?
My overall reaction to this video was that it was ok. I really didnt get it after watching it three times. but it did raise some interesting points to me. I mean it showed a way in which the c.i.a were filthy people but tell me something I dont know.
